英语中的名词所有格是一种语法范畴，用来表示名词之间的关系。名词有三种所有格形式：'s所有格和of+名词结构。

使用's所有格形式时，通常用于表示人、国家或动物的所属关系，例如：Lucy's hat, the cat's tail。此外，还可以用于以下场合：

1. 表示船只及其部件的所有权：the ship's bell, the yacht's mast。

2. 表示飞机、火车、汽车等交通工具及其部件的所有权：a glider's wings, the train's heating system。有时也可以用of+名词结构，如：the wings of a glider, the heating system of the train。

3. 表示时间：a week's holiday, today's paper, tomorrow's weather。也可以用a ten-minute break, a two-hour delay。

4. 用于价值结构中：￡1's worth of stamps, ten dollars' worth of ice-cream。

5. 用于for+名词的所有格形式+sake结构中：for heaven's sake, for goodness'sake。

6. 用于一些表达：a stone's throw, journey's end, the water's edge。

7. 一些特定名词的所有格形式可以省去后面的名词：a／the baker's, butcher's, chemist's, florist's，表示面包师、屠夫、药剂师、花匠的店铺。

8. 有些商业名称也可以用这种形式表示所属关系，例如：Sotheby's, Claridge's。

使用of+名词结构时，主要用于表示拥有者的名词由短语或从句修饰的情况，如：The boys ran about, obeying the directions of a man with a whistle。此外，无生命的拥有者也需要用of+名词结构，如：the walls of the town, the roof of the church, the keys of the car。有时也可以用名词2+名词1来代替，但需要谨慎，因为不是所有的名词+of+名词结构都可以这样做，例如：the town walls, the church roof。
